TITLE: Production Supervisor

 JOB SUMMARY:

  • Manage people and assets of the department to obtain goals while maintaining a safe work place. Extensive short-term planning based on established and changing priorities. Involves ongoing problem solving.  Must be able to communicate clearly and secure the cooperation of others in a manufacturing environment.  Responsible to make decisions and represent company policy on disputed issues.  Continually strive to reduce costs and eliminate waste.  Must work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with constant interruptions.  Must clearly communicate business goals so associates understand how they contribute to the organization’s success.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule with some overtime.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise 50 – 75 hourly employees.
  • This position will direct the activities of the manufacturing departments in an efficient manner for the desired quality and quantity of work.
  • Direct employees with respect to safety policies and procedures, production volume, cost, quality, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.
  • Responsibilities include coaching, training and administering discipline.
  • Promote positive employee relations through effective management and issue resolution
  • Stimulate maximum efficiency and productivity of production workers.
  • Communicate with the Production Manager and Production Planner to establish working schedules
  • Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping (5S) practices.
  • Assure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.
  • Schedule vacations and overtime, as required.
  • Arrange to have appropriate production records prepared and maintained.
  • Prioritize production activities to meet scheduled inventory and production objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment

Demonstrated ability to lead by coaching and teaching

  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be willing to work evenings or nights and weekends
  • Proficiency with MS Office & other computer applications
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills
  • Quality focused and attention to detail

Preferable Characteristics:

  • Preference for a bachelor’s degree in Management/ Business/ Supervision
  • Preference for future development towards higher levels of responsibility and accountability.
  • Lean manufacturing experience
