MIDDLEFIELD CARDINAL YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM
CODE OF CONDUCT
Middlefield Cardinal Youth Sports Program (MCYSP) is dedicated to making its programs a fun, learning experience for all. Our mission is to create a recreational league to teach basic athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship and above all to have FUN. THIS CODE OF CONDUCT WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO.
Our coaches and referees take time out to benefit our children and we should respect them and show them our appreciation.
Comments and cheers during games and practices must remain positive. If participants or persons watching stray from this practice they will be given a warning by the coach or official. Beyond the first warning, they will be asked to leave the facility for that day. If a violation of our code of conduct is reported to the Recreation Office at any time the following actions will be taken:
- First offense: A MCYSP Director will contact the individual in violation of the Code of Conduct and give them a verbal warning.
- Second offense: A MCYSP Director will contact the individual in violation of the Code of Conduct and a written warning and a one game suspension will be given.
- Third offense: A MCYSP Director will contact the individual in violation of the Code of Conduct and violator will have spectator privileges revoked for the rest of the season.
Volleyball
Youth Volleyball: Grades 3rd-6th
Middlefield-Cardinal youth volleyball is for boys and girls grades 3rd-6th. The program is meant to introduce the game of volleyball and to teach basic skill development and proper technique. Have fun while learning the rules of the game, developing new skills and learning to play as a team. The program’s focus will be on overall player development. Participants progress from learning the rules to developing skills in the areas of underhand and overhand serving, setting, hitting, and digging.
If there are enough participants teams will be split by grade level. Requests will tried to be honored but cannot be guaranteed. Please put requests in the notes section when registering.

Flag Football/Rookie Tackle
Fall Flag Football is played through the Middlefield-Cardinal Youth Sports Program. Age groups are divided up in the following way: Ages 3-4; 5-6; 7-8; 9-10 all ages are as of August 1st. Rookie Tackle Program is for those in 5th and 6th grade.

The Soccer Registration Age Chart can assist with registering your child on the correct team.
Age groups are U6, U8, U10, U12.

The Middlefield-Cardinal Youth Sports program offers T-ball (PreK-K) and Baseball for any child interested in playing.

Basketball
The Middlefield-Cardinal Youth Sports program offers basketball for any child interested in playing grades K-6th Grade.
Saturday Youth Recreational League
*Practice 2 days a week
*Games on Saturday – Local (Recreation)
All participants will sign up for the recreational league, should your child wish to try out for the travel team please have them attend the tryout date listed below.

Cheerleading
The Middlefield-Cardinal Youth Sports program offers cheerleading for any child interested grades PreK-6th Grade.
The Cheer program is held twice a year during the Fall football season and rec basketball season.
Fall (Football) Cheer teams will be split between grades K–6th.
Winter (Basketball) Cheerleading Teams will cheer for the recreation league players this season. Teams will be capped at 8 per team and teams will be divided by age.
Kindergarten, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th (Registrations are first come first serve.)
Requests to cheer for a sibling will tried to be honored, please put what team the sibling is on in the registration notes.

Lindsay’s Law is about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in youth athletes

In accordance with Lindsay’s Law, Middlefield-Cardinal Youth Sports Program is required by the State of Ohio to collect signed forms from all parents and athletes. These forms are included with the registration application.
Lindsay’s Law is about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in youth athletes. This law went into effect in 2017. SCA is the leading cause of death in student athletes 19 years of age or younger. SCA occurs when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. This cuts off blood flow to the brain and other vital organs. SCA is fatal if not treated immediately

Program Fee Funding Assistance
The Geauga Department of Job and Family Services has a program for families in need as well to assist with participation fee payment. Contact sara.shininger@jfs.ohio.gov or call 440-285-9141, ext.1263 to fill out an application for Assistance
There is financial assistance for participants with need through the Domen/Marcu Foundation.
The Nina Marcu P.L.A.Y trust fund is now, The Domen / Marcu Foundation.

Photo Release
Photo Release
Photographs are occasionally taken of program participants during various programs. These photographs are used to promote Middlefield Recreation programs in future editions of Activities Guide and a variety of other Middlefield-Cardinal Youth Sports Program publication. If you prefer that you or your child not be photographed, please notify us.

Payment & Processing Fees
Refunds Before the Program Starts
You are eligible for a full refund (minus credit card fees) prior to the start of the program, with the following exception:

Custom Orders: If team-specific items (e.g., personalized jerseys) have already been pre-ordered, the cost of those items will be deducted from your refund. You will receive these items once they arrive.
Refunds After the Program Starts
If a refund is requested after the program has officially begun, the following deductions apply:

Administrative Fee: A $15 fee per enrollment to cover administrative and processing costs.

Program Expenses: Costs for any team-specific uniforms, accessories, or equipment already purchased for the participant.
