Are you a technical problem-solver who enjoys a mix of field operations & data management? The Village is seeking a Utility System Specialist & Operator to serve as the lead for our Backflow Prevention, Metering, & GIS Mapping program. This isn’t just an operator maintenance role—you will be the primary point person for the technology and compliance systems that keep our water safe and our billing accurate.

What You’ll Do
- Program Leadership: Manage the Village’s Backflow Prevention Program, acting as the primary liaison for commercial and industrial compliance.
- System Innovation: Oversee the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). You’ll monitor for leaks, troubleshoot communication errors, and manage the lifecycle of our metering technology.
- Infrastructure Mapping: Utilize GIS software to map critical infrastructure points and maintain the annual Lead Service Line database.
- Plant Operations: Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on the water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
- Regulatory Excellence: Ensure all operations meet or exceed Ohio EPA standards.
What We’re Looking For
- Certifications: Ohio Class 1 Water Supply EPA Certificate and Ohio Class 2 Waste Water Operator Certificate. If candidate does not possess Ohio Class 1 Water Supply and Class 2 Waste Water Certificate, must have ability to obtain a Class 1 Water and Class 2 Wastewater license within 12 months of hire. Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Technical Skills: Ability to manage databases, and utilize Microsoft Excel.
- Problem Solvers: Someone who can analyze data for “abnormal consumption” and communicate findings to the billing and management teams.
- Community Mindset: A professional who can interact tactfully with residents and business owners during inspections or service interruptions.
- Physical Readiness: Ability to lift 50 lbs, and respond to on call and emergency calls.
